|
Why
should I buy from Roman Satellite instead of DISH Network Directly?
All retailers
are "independent retailers," and therefore, the retailer
is your only source for not paying Manufacturer's Suggested Retail
Prices (MSRP). DISH Network only sells at the MSRP. Roman Satellite's
prices are so low because we purchase inventory in quantities.
We also receive incentives for acquiring new customers; we apply
a substantial portion of these incentives towards discounting
the hardware so our customers can enjoy huge savings.
|
Can
I really get DISH installation and two receivers free?
Yes!
You really do get two receivers and a satellite dish installed for
free. Of course, you are also making a one year commitment to pay
your monthly programming charges automatically using your credit
card. Keep in mind that we will charge your card $49.99 up front.
This covers activating your account, your free installation, and
your first month's service (regardless of which plan you choose).
It is also important to note that you technically will never own
the satellite system. The equipment remains the property of DISH
NETWORK and may be removed by them should you ever discontinue service. |
Is
all of your equipment new?
Yes. All of our
systems are new and fresh from the factory with a full
warranty, one year parts and labor. Our systems come the same
as the ones you would get if you purchased them directly from DISH
Network. |
What
payment options do I have?
To sign up for
this offer with Dish Network, you are required to use a credit card
or debit card which has a MasterCard/Visa Logo. Debit cards from
your checking account are acceptable as long as they have a Visa
or MasterCard Logo. |

Who

regarding your order invoice, call toll free 1-866-566-DISH (3474).
If you have questions regarding programming or other billing questions,
call 1-800-333-3474. |
I
have suggestions for your webmaster.
Direcet your
email to webmaster@romansatellite.com. |
If
I have DIRECTV now, how can I change to DISH Network service?
You would need
to purchase a DISH Network system. DISH Network and DirecTV receivers
feature a different architecture. DISH Network is one of the most
technologically advanced, high-quality satellite TV systems available.
Our receivers are fully MPEG-2/DVB compliant, offering you excellent
quality in audio and video. After you plug in the new receiver simply
replace your dish with the DISH Network DISH 500 on your existing
mount and re-aim toward our satellite. |
If
I have PRIMESTAR now, how can I change to DISH Network service?
DISH Network
and PRIMESTAR use incompatible technology for their receivers and
dish antenna. DISH Network is one of the most technologically advanced,
high-quality satellite TV systems available. Our receivers are fully
MPEG-2/DVB compliant, offering you excellent quality in audio and
video. After you plug in the new receiver simply install the DISH
Network DISH 500 on your home and re-aim toward our satellite. |
How
much is a second receiver?
The most common
second TV receiver is the Model 2800. The Model 2800 costs $99,
or save money by purchasing one of our Multi-TV Combo Packages. |
How
many receivers can I have?
You can have
up to 6 receivers on one account. Please note that each additional
receiver on the account will add a $4.99/month addition outlet fee.
Your first two receivers are FREE. If you need a third receiver,
you must pay $49.99 for the extra receiver. If you need two additional
receivers (four total receivers), the total you must pay is $99.98
for BOTH additional receivers. Your fifth and sixth receivers will
cost $99 each. You will still only pay us $49.99 today to get set
up. You will pay Dish Network directly at a later time for your
additional receivers. |
Does
DISH Network provide Internet access via dish antenna?
Yes, Dish Network,
along with Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., now offer bi-directional
high speed Internet access called StarBand. StarBand two-way satellite
service users can expect Internet access speeds up to 10 times faster
than normal modem speeds, with burst rates considerably higher.
Two-way satellite service offers significant benefits for consumers,
including a persistent or 'always on' connection that saves time
over dial-up methods and eliminates the need for a second telephone
line. Starband offers high-speed Internet connections to the consumer's
PC via a single small dish. Click here for information on DISH Network's
partnership with Gilat. Click here for information on DISH Network's
partnership with iSKY. Standdard Internet service can be combined
with a DISH Promotion Package for your TV viewing for further savings. |

How
do I get Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio?
Dish Network
currently only provides Dolby Digital soundtracks on their home
theater Pay-Per-View channels 512-513 on the 119 satellite
and PPV channels 520-525 on the 110 satellite. You can look for
the DD symbol in the Electronic Program Guide (EPG)
to see if the movie is broadcasted in Dolby Digital. These channels
also show some movies in their original letterbox format. DISH
Network will expand their DD offerings through time. In order
to take advantage of the higher quality audio provided by a Dolby
Digital soundtrack, you must have both a satellite receiver that
supports Digital Audio Outputs, and a Dolby Digital decoder (generally
part of your surround sound system). Currently, the satellite
receivers that have built in Digital Audio Outputs are the Model
4922, Model 7222, and Model 6022 (DISH HD). These receivers have
built in TOSLINK style optical outputs.
|
Dolby
Surround vs. Dolby Digital
There are 2 differences
between Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital. First Dolby Surround only
has 4 channels; Left, Right, Center and Surround(rear). Dolby
Digital (AC-3) has 5.1 channels; Left, Right, Center, Right surround,
Left surround, and low frequency effects (Sub Woofer). In addition,
AC-3 includes a Phase Delay which gives the illusion of a sound
reflection which is either closer or further from you than the actual
speaker and gives a more realistic sound profile. |
Does
DISH Network offer an HDTV compatible receiver?
Yes. The exciting
new Model 6022 (DISH HD) has the AC-3 and HDTV decoders built in.
The model 6022 will work with all ATSC-compatible HDTV television
sets. A customer must have both a High Definition compatible television
and an 8VSB modulator ($139.95, now available) to support the viewing
capability of locals being broadcast in HD. The 6022 satellite receiver
and 8VSB modulator will support all eighteen ATSC formats, including
both 720p and 1080I HDTV formats. In general, EchoStar will provide
HD content in whatever format it receives from the content providers.
Please note: HDTV content is on ECHO III (61.5) and duplicated on
ECHO I (148) which requires a second dish antenna. |
What
is Roman Satellite's return policy?
A 30-day moneyback
guarantee applies to direct sales by Roman Satellite, an authorized
DISH Network dealer. 30-day moneyback guarantee does not include
any installation costs or shipping and handling costs to or from
the customer. A 15% restocking fee, $25 minimum will be charged.
Returns must accompany an RA# (Return Authorization Number) obtained
by calling Roman Satellite and be in resellable condition (unused,
unblemished, no balance owed, and in original packaging). |
How
do I get my local networks?
Local Networks
are available to anyone who has a qualifying ZIP Code under the
SHVA ruling. However, to ensure proper use, you must click
here to see if you qualify. DISH NETS East and West (NY and
LA) are the only broadcast networks available from their CORE satellites
(119 degrees). All other cites are available from DISH Network's
SPECIALIZED satellite ECHO V (110 degrees). The DISH 500 antenna
must be dedicated to this locations to receive their signals. Therefore,
if you would like basic programming and local networks, you must
have the DISH 500 which comes standard on all our complete systems.
Also, under the SHVA ruling, anyone with a qualifying ZIP Code will
be able to purchase these services. A new law went into effect November
24, 1999 which now allows satellite companies to carry locals into
local markets on a broader scale. Newly launched Echo V and Echo
VI will provide most of the bandwidth for additional local channels
and other programming. Click
here to find out more about local programming. |

My Homeowner's Association forbids the installation
of satellite dish's. Can they do that?
Our dish antenna
size is 20" and complies with the Satellite Consumer Bill
of Rights, a regulation released by the FCC on August 6, 1996.
This regulation PREEMPTS area zoning ordinances and Homeowner
Association covenants and restrictions on DBS dish antennas. This
rule was required by Congress in the 1996 Telecommunications Act.
Some HOA'S have been fighting to keep restriction rights by threatening
court action on tenants with dish antennas, in some cases arguing
that a dish antenna is installed in a common area, calling the
air space above the homeowners roof where the dish antenna is
installed, the common area. Congress is on your side in this matter.
For a copy of the FCC law please click here. For more specific
information please contact: SBCA (Satellite Broadcasting &
Communications Association): (703)549-6990, and at http://www.sbca.com.

What
are the programming charges for a second receiver?
There is no "programming"
fee for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th receivers. Whatever programming
you subscribe to on your "main" receiver will automatically
be on your "secondary" (extra) receivers. There is, however,
a second receiver Access Fee of $5 per month for each secondary
receiver you may have. This fee covers the cost of broadcasting,
modem expenses, billing and satellite transmission fees. |

Can
I DISH Network service in my apartment/condo?
In most cases,
yes, if you have a balcony. Please check with your
landlord first. |
Can
I get a dish installed on my motor home or tractor trailer?
Yes! Our installers
will gladly install on your rig instead of your home. There is no
difference in pricing. Just remember that you are making a one year
commitment for continuous monthly service. |
How
long is the estimated shipping time?

are submitted through the secured online order form, customer will
be e-mailed our PA (Purchasing
Agreement). The PA is a one page form which must be replied
to before the shipment is released. All systems are in inventory
and ship out the same business day or the next business day the

an email with the UPS tracking numbers. Depending on how far you
live from Missouri, your package will be in transit approximately

Can
I get service in Hawaii & Puerto Rico?
No. This offer
does not extend to these areas. |
|
Is
DISH Network service available outside of the U.S. (specifically,
Canada)?
Unfortunately,
DISH Network is expressly prohibited from distributing their programming
services to anyone outside the U.S., its territories and possessions
as dictated by DISH Network's programming contracts with the programmers.
However, DISH
Network is currently working with a Canadian DBS service, ExpressVu
of Canada. ExpressVu has the same MPEG2-DVB technology found in
DISH Network receivers. Please visit their website at http://www.expressvu.com
or call 905-272-9171 for information on ExpressVu!

 |
|
I
want to see a list of all of the channels
You can get
a list of the channels that are included in any package on our
website. Just go to our Programming
page.
|
Do
I have to choose my programming right now?
No. If you are
not sure of which packages you desire, you can simply choose the
basic programming package for now. You'll then have time to consider
your options. Just keep in mind that you'll have to decide before
the installer comes to your home. We will also mail you full color
information which clearly outlines your choices. |
Can
I substitute one channel for another in my basic package?
We strive to
make satellite programming as affordable as possible. One way to
help keep costs lower is to provide stations in packages, rather
than mostly a la carte. Allowing customers to substitute channels
would have the adverse effect of forcing us to raise prices, both
for overall programming, and for a la carte stations. To prevent
this, no substitutions are allowed. |

| Installation
questions |
 |
After
I make my purchase, how do I activate my programming?
In our selected
cities, you can have local Roman Satellite crews perform the installation.
In all other cities, instructions for ordering your DISH Network
programming will be sent with your system. You will call DISH Network's
toll-free number (24 hours a day) after your installation is completed.
A customer service representative will help you activate all the
programming you would like. |
Why
does a phone line connect to the receiver?
The primary reason
why the receiver(s) connect to the phone line is to ensure your
ability to purchase Pay-Per-View movies and events. |
I
have a lot of tall trees in the way between my dish antenna and
the satellite. What can I do?
Trees can cause
interference with the satellite signal. If you cannot find a different
location that provides a clear line of sight with the satellite
(your dish-antenna can be mounted as far as 100 feet from the receiver),
you may have to trim your trees. In order to help determine if you
have a clear line-of-sight to the DISH Network satellites, you can
download the azimuth and elevation angles through the following
Zip Code Application. |
How
do I hook up my VCR?
If you are using
the RCA connections: Run the red, white and yellow connects from
the satellite receiver to the VCR line inputs. Then run the line
outputs to the TV video 1 input. Select LINE IN on your VCR and
video 1 on your TV. If your are using coaxial cable: Run the coax
from the TV set out of the satellite receiver to the antenna in
of the VCR. Then run the VCR out to the TV set coax in. Put the
switch on the back of the VCR and the VCR's channel to 3 or 4. You
must also put the switch on the back of the TV and the TV's channel
to 3 or 4.You can combine the RCA out of the receiver to the VCR
and the use coax out from the VCR to the TV. Be sure to put the
VCR in the LINE IN mode and the TV on channel 3 or 4. You will have
to refer to your VCR and/or your TV owners manual for help on selecting
the LINE/AUX INPUTS. |
